Need for More Diverse Local Shops Downtown

Our downtown area is lovely, but I feel it could benefit from a greater variety of local businesses. It seems we have a lot of cafes and antique stores, which is great, but we're lacking some essentials.
I would love to see:
A small, independent bookstore.
A greengrocer with fresh, local produce.<
A family-friendly restaurant that's not a chain.
Supporting diverse local businesses would not only make our downtown more vibrant but also keep more money within our community. Perhaps the city could offer incentives for new types of small businesses to open up here?

We appreciate your feedback and share your desire for a diverse and thriving downtown business district. Our Economic Development team actively works to recruit a variety of businesses through initiatives like our Facade Improvement Grant and small business incubator programs.
While the city cannot dictate which specific types of businesses choose to open, we can and do use resident feedback like yours to inform our business recruitment and retention strategies. We will certainly highlight the community's desire for a bookstore and fresh food grocer in our outreach materials.
