Suggestion: Community Garden at Riverside Park

The large, unused grassy area at the south end of Riverside Park would be a perfect location for a community garden. Many residents, especially those in apartments, don't have space to grow their own food.
A community garden would:
Provide access to fresh, healthy produce.
Offer educational opportunities for children and adults.
Be a wonderful way to build community and encourage neighbors to connect.
I'd be willing to help organize a volunteer group to get this project started. Let's grow together!

This is an excellent suggestion that aligns with the Parks and Recreation Department's mission to foster community and promote healthy activities. The south end of Riverside Park has indeed been identified as a potential site for such a project.
The next step would be to form a small steering committee of interested residents. Our department can provide guidance on developing a formal proposal, which would include site layout, operating rules, and a volunteer management plan. Please contact the Parks and Recreation office so we can help you get started.
